Restylane® FAQs
Restylane® is an injectable gel used to treat facial wrinkles or to plump the lips. It is FDA approved and provides long lasting, natural looking results. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about Restylane® injections.
What are the benefits of Restylane®?
Restylane® softens aging lines or improves natural features, enhancing facial contours, cheeks, or lips. It restores volume, improves skin elasticity, and smoothes lines. Results are long lasting, but not permanent.
How is the procedure performed?
Restylane® is injected under the skin with a fine needle. The gel hydrates the skin structure and provides natural looking volume. The procedure typically takes under 30 minutes to perform and the results can be seen instantly. Restylane® does not affect facial expressions and no skin test is required due to the fact that Restylane® does not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
What areas can be treated?
Restylane® treatment is suitable for facial lines, lip enhancement, and for recontouring the cheeks and chin. The most common areas treated are those lines from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth (nasolabial folds), lips, cheeks and chin, and eyebrow wrinkles (the glabellar lines).
How long does Restylane® treatment last?
Facial lines require follow-up treatment after about 6 to 12 months; lip enhancement requires follow-up treatment after about six months. How long results last depends on a variety of factors, such as skin type and age.
Does Restylane® treatment hurt?
Restylane® injections may cause mild discomfort, but the treatment is not painful and patients are able to return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
