How does Juvederm® work?

Much like other injectable treatments such as Restylane®, Juvederm® works by restoring facial volume to plump up lines and wrinkles and achieve a smoother and more youthful appearance. The Juvederm® treatment can typically be completed in about 45 minutes in a simple, in-office procedure.

What is Juvederm® made from?

Juvederm® is made from cross-linked hyaluronic acid and comes in the form of an injectable gel. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that hydrates and adds volume to the skin. It has also been used as treatment for wound repair and for eye surgery.

What are the side effects?

Most side effects related to Juvederm® treatment are due to irritation at the injection site and typically resolve within a few days. These side effects include itching, swelling, discoloration, and bruising.

Do Juvederm® injections hurt?

Although it may cause mild discomfort, the Juvederm® procedure is not painful. Most patients return to work or other daily activities immediately following their treatment. The safety and effectiveness of the Juvederm® procedure have made it an increasingly popular skin care treatment option.

How long do the results of the procedure last?

Juvederm® results may last for up to a year. Keep in mind, however, that everyone is different. Depending upon your physical characteristics, including the elasticity of your skin, your results may not last as long. It can be difficult to predict the longevity in each person, but your dermatologist should be able to give you a good idea of the results you can expect.
