Physician Assistant
Sean Geoffrey Pearce graduated from the Physician Assistant (PA) program at Oregon Health and Sciences University in 1998. Before beginning his education as a physician assistant, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Portland and worked as a staff nurse at the Portland VA Medical Center for four years. In the PA program, he received "medical model" schooling for over two years. His education did not stop there. To remain nationally certified, Mr. Pearce must complete 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) every two years, and must pass a national recertification examination every six years. He joined our dermatology team in July 2002, but for the previous two years Sean worked as a dermatology PA in Florida gaining considerable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of sun damage, skin cancer, and a wide range of skin ailments. Sean is a native Oregonian, is married, has a toddler, and likes to ski, scuba, hike, and bike.
Clinic Manager
Juli has been helping doctors run their practices for 28 years, over 10 with Dr. Goodkin. She manages our personnel and accounts receivable. She's the office troubleshooter, keeps the equipment humming, and aids Dr. Goodkin with business management and special projects. She helps people with insurance issues and makes sure that the front office runs smoothly, that you're greeted warmly, and that the telephones are answered promptly. She has a big cuddly chocolate Labrador named Mocha and a Persian feline named Bubba.
Registered Nurses
Sharon and Barbara have each been with Dr. Goodkin on this for more than 20 years. As such they share nursing responsibilities, answer medically related phone calls, assist in procedures, do dry ice slush treatments, acne surgery, stitch removals, and a myriad of other tasks. They are very knowledgeable in answering your questions about skin care products, the care of your skin before and after procedures, and prescription medications you may be taking. Sharon, in addition to being a wife and mother, enjoys camping and walking. Barbara enjoys spending time with her family and three granddaughters, loves to garden and often brings in the flowers you see around the office.
Medical Assistant and Mohs Technician
Julie has been with Dr. Goodkin for nearly ten years. Most of the time she works in the back assisting with procedures as well as helping with the phone calls that come in. She is in charge of our Dermagraphix Digital Mole Mapping system, and calls herself the office "mole photographer". On surgery days, she prepares skin cancer tissue removed by Mohs surgery for microscopic examination by Dr. Goodkin. In her spare time she volunteers with various animal organizations and keeps company with her animals both domestic and wild.
Receptionists
While answering phones and making appointments, they will greet you with a smile and ask you to update your insurance information! Anna, who is our main receptionist, has been here for three years. She moved here from Kazakhstan 6 years ago and graduated from Western Business College as a Medical Insurance and Administrative Assistant. Her hobbies are snowboarding and skiing; she enjoys spending time with friends at the beach and taking roads trips across the country. She is also a big fan of the Blazers.
Sonja has been with us for six years. She started out as a receptionist and over the last two years has been working in our business office, doing insurance billing and coding. She still helps answer the phones and fills in up front when needed. She has two girls and enjoys spending time with her family and scrapbooking in her free time.
Sarah is a receptionist and a medical assistant, and she's been with us for a little over a year. She helps answer phones, check patients in and out of the office, and assists in the back office on Mohs surgery days. She came to our office shortly after completing the Medical Assistant program at Clackamas Community College, and she's a great addition to our office. In her free time, Sarah enjoys camping, snowboarding, surfing, going the beach, and playing with her French Bulldog, Henry.
Aesthetician
Joy came to our practice in August of 2004. She has been a welcome addition to our practice and as a licensed aesthetician does skin care and make up consultations, facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion treatments and Thermage treatments. She has 10 years experience as a licensed aesthetician and has prior experience working for a plastic surgeon and as a lead aesthetician in local spas. She is currently working toward an Associate degree in Science at Portland Community College with plans to continue working in a dermatologic setting as a nurse/aesthetician.
